AI-Powered Product and Image Compliance for Global Retail Operations

The customer

A global commerce and delivery platform operates across markets around the world, connecting consumers with everyday retail products from stores, brands, and suppliers.

Alongside its delivery business, the company supports a large retail marketplace where consumer packaged goods are made available for purchase across countries. Every item carries product information and imagery that need to be accurate, complete, and compliant with the requirements of the market where the product is offered.

The challenge

Making consumer packaged goods available across many countries means meeting different compliance requirements in each market, across both product data and product imagery.

On the data side, each product record needs accurate attributes that match the manufacturer’s specification and the customer’s market-level compliance requirements. Those requirements can vary by country, category, packaging type, ingredient profile, labeling rule, disclosure standard, or product restriction.

On the image side, each product image has to show the correct item, meet the platform’s quality and format standards, and avoid prohibited, restricted, or misleading content. A product may have accurate data but still fail compliance review if the image is wrong, outdated, low quality, or not appropriate for the market where it appears.

This source information often starts with manufacturers and suppliers, but rarely arrives in a clean, market-ready form. Specifications, images, packaging details, and supporting materials are spread across supplier files, brand databases, internal tools, and inconsistent data feeds.

Across a catalog that spans many markets and languages, manually enriching and reviewing every product for compliance is slow, costly, and difficult to scale. The company needed a faster way to turn manufacturer and supplier inputs into accurate, compliant product records without lowering its accuracy bar.

The solution

Woflow partnered with the customer to build an AI-powered workflow for product and image compliance across global retail operations. The workflow was designed around the customer’s catalog standards, market-level compliance requirements, and historical review patterns, allowing the system to process product records in the same structured way a trained compliance reviewer would.

For each product, the system ingests manufacturer specifications, product images, supplier files, and structured data feeds. It extracts the required attributes, normalizes them into the customer’s schema, checks imagery against the platform’s content and quality standards, and validates the full record against the customer-defined compliance requirements for the market where the product will be offered.

Records that meet the customer’s requirements are prepared for listing. Records with missing fields, conflicting source data, non-compliant images, or regulated edge cases are routed for human review with the relevant context already assembled. Every decision is captured with a full audit trail in the Woflow platform and synced back to the customer’s systems.

This gave the customer a consistent, auditable way to process large volumes of compliance-sensitive product records while keeping human reviewers focused on the cases that require judgment.

How it works

Woflow’s AI-powered workflow operates within the customer’s existing catalog and compliance workflow. The system reviews each product record, identifies missing or low-confidence attributes, and enriches the listing with manufacturer-backed information from approved sources.

The system then evaluates the product image against the customer’s standards, checking whether the image matches the product, meets quality and format requirements, and avoids restricted or misleading content. Once the data and image have been reviewed, the system checks the full record against the compliance requirements for the destination market.

When the record satisfies the required standards, the system prepares it for listing and records the outcome in the customer’s systems. When it encounters missing information, conflicting evidence, a non-compliant image, or a regulated edge case, it routes the case to a human reviewer. Those reviewer decisions inform future workflow improvements while preserving oversight where it matters most.

This created a trusted, auditable workflow for product compliance, improving speed while maintaining the accuracy required for global retail operations.

The outcome

Woflow gave the customer a scalable way to enrich and validate both product data and imagery across many markets while maintaining the accuracy and auditability that compliance demands. The system reviewed records at over 98% accuracy, and the customer’s regional operations team rated the partnership in the 9–10 range on NPS.

By combining AI with human-in-the-loop review, the company increased product throughput while preserving its compliance standards. The marketplace gained a more reliable path from manufacturer specification to compliant, listable product, while operations and compliance teams gained clearer visibility into product readiness and fewer manual bottlenecks.
